Planned Giving Basics
What is Planned Giving?
This term refers to charitable giving that is planned ahead of time. These gifts can be advantageous to
the giver by providing significant tax benefits and/or income for life and at the same time providing a gift for the ministry of Campus Crusade
for Christ. The variety of methods used to make these gifts range from simple bequests made in Wills to setting up Charitable Trusts.
We believe that God has gifted some individuals with a special ability to generate substantial amounts of income and net worth with
the specific purpose of funding the work of the Kingdom and especially evangelism. We believe that God calls these people and places a
desire in their hearts to be involved in His work in a significant way. It is our responsibility to help individuals maximize their income
and assets as the Lord directs.
Our commitment is to assist donors in providing funds for the people and/or ministries God has placed on their hearts. Helping donors
accomplish God's plan, through good stewardship of that which He has given them, ultimately blesses all concerned.
Charitable Gift Annuity - A charitable gift annuity is a simple and safe way to receive a quarterly fixed income for your lifetime
and your spouse's lifetime. More on the Charitable Gift Annuity
Donor Advised Fund - While it is rooted in the same broad charitable support and lasting impact as a foundation, for many, the Donor
Advised Fund offers even greater benefits and increased flexibility. More on the Donor Advised Fund
Charitable Remainder Trust - This trust is a financial tool that makes payments, either a fixed amount (annuity trust) or a percentage
of trust principal (unitrust) to whomever you choose to receive the income. You may claim a charitable income tax deduction and you will avoid
any capital gains tax on the sale of appreciated property inside the trust. At the end of the trust term, Campus Crusade for Christ would receive
whatever amount is left in the trust. (Charitable remainder unitrusts provide some flexibility in the distribution of income and can be helpful
in retirement planning.) More on the Charitable Remainder Trust
Appreciated Assets - As with most appreciated assets, you have a lower cost basis in the asset than the current fair market value. On making
a ministry gift, you will have a deduction based on the full fair market value as opposed to what you initially paid for the asset. By giving the asset
to a qualified charity, the deduction can significantly help reduce your income tax liability, and you will avoid paying capital gains tax entirely. More

Life Insurance - This is a direct and simple way to make a planned gift when you name Campus Crusade for Christ as the beneficiary to receive all
or a portion of the proceeds of a life insurance policy. Giving the policy outright offers current tax advantages. More on Life Insurance
Bequest - You can choose to leave assets from your estate to Campus Crusade for Christ by a provision in your Will, or a codicil to your Will.
A bequest enables you to make a significant gift to Campus Crusade while retaining full control of your assets throughout your life and can reduce your estate
taxes. More on Wills and Trusts
The Estate Design - The estate design process looks at your goals for family and ministry, then, considers the tools and techniques available to
help you maximize those objectives. More on Estate Designs
The Staff Legacy Fund - This is a special fund created by Campus Crusade for Christ for the purpose of putting your contribution to long-term use for the staff members
you support. Instead of using your contribution to pay for current expenses, it will be invested to generate income indefinitely. More on the Staff Legacy Fund
The Vision Fund - Like the Staff Legacy Fund, this special fund allows you to put your contribution to long-term use for the specific campus or ministry
of your choice. Your gift will be invested to generate income indefinitely rather than being used for the ministry's current expenses. More on the Vision Fund
